Music and emotions
Posted on 29 June 2024

Music has a strong hold on our emotions. I mean it in a deeper sense than happy or sad, though. Music can make us nostalgic, sentimental, or even the opposite. Music can be good and bad, occasionally at the same time.

I've been listening to a lot of music lately. Honestly, there aren't many times I don't have something on as background noise at least. But even when it's quiet, not a focus, hearing "that one song" come up can always catch your attention.

It could a song your parents always played, or it could be the song that played at your wedding. Maybe it's something you listened to with your friends at the arcade, or it's an emotional, meaningful track from your favourite video game. Whatever it is, music is meaningful.

Music can affect us in such powerful ways. What I like the most however, is when you find a specific album that you can play front to back, no problem. Every song profound in some way as to draw on your memories and experiences as a catalyst to further push your experience with the story the album tells.

I grew up with music, I live with it in my day-to-day, and I hope everyone can experience music in a powerful way. Being comfortable in the genres you enjoy is okay, but there's something for everyone, made by every walk of life. It's never too late to start discovering new things.

I don't think anyone should be afraid of giving something new a chance. You won't know if you like it or not if you don't try it.
